I just got a letter for next year's Hemi Raffle. Brevard's Can't Remember Shit Foundation, AKA, Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, is steering away from beautiful classic mopars up for grabs to a modern muscle mopar, a 2009 Viper Yellow SRT 10 convertible.

A nice ride for some lucky person! Features the 8.4L V10 SFI engine, 6 spd manual, preferred suede and leather trim seats in black, 18x10/19x13 forged aluminum 6 spoke wheels.

Tickets will be $25 each, 6 for $100 or 15 for $200. Like all their raffles before, they don't place a limit on how many tickets they'll sell.

Esurance Classic Auto Quote 1970 Dodge Hemi Convertible 426

Another company I personally use is Esurance for my automobile. Besides having a great logo/advertising campaign (Erin the special agent cartoon girl), they are a top notch car insurer with great rates.

I called Esurance the other day to see if they insure classic cars and sure enough, they have a department that does that - although it's more like an affiliate set up.

I checked to see what a quote would be for a 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible with a 426 Hemi installed. Total restoration, show quality. Ok, so it's not the more desirable Plymouth Barricuda Hemi Convertible - a la, Nash Bridges ride - but it's still nothing to laugh at.

 The quote was about $425 for the year based on a $30,000 value with zero deductable for collision/comprehensive.  It specified that it's use is limited to sunday drives and car show type usages - pretty standard. I opted for the 3000 mile per year limit. However, the car pictured below is appraised at 3 times that, or $90,000.
