I called Esurance the other day to see if they insure classic cars and sure enough, they have a department that does that - although it's more like an affiliate set up.
I checked to see what a quote would be for a 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible with a 426 Hemi installed. Total restoration, show quality. Ok, so it's not the more desirable Plymouth Barricuda Hemi Convertible - a la, Nash Bridges ride - but it's still nothing to laugh at.
The quote was about $425 for the year based on a $30,000 value with zero deductable for collision/comprehensive. It specified that it's use is limited to sunday drives and car show type usages - pretty standard. I opted for the 3000 mile per year limit. However, the car pictured below is appraised at 3 times that, or $90,000.
